Salda Lake

Salda Lake

Turkey's Maldives

The main reason why Salda Lake is known with this title is its chalky shores, which resemble the white beaches in the Maldives. This white-gray mixture makes the lake's color light blue and turquoise in the shallow part.

The most important feature of Lake Salda, which gives you the feeling of entering soapy water with its abundant calcareous water, is that it is one of the two places in the world that has the same geological features and mineral structure as the surface of Mars.
Research shows that white rocks with high magnesium content found in Lake Salda are also found on Mars, proving that similar conditions in the lake once prevailed on this planet.

Salda Lake, one of the deepest and cleanest lakes in Turkey with a depth of up to 184 meters, is located at an altitude of 1,140 meters above sea level.
With a depth of 184 meters and an area of 44 square kilometers, Salda is the deep lake of Turkey.

Salda Lake was declared a First Degree Natural Protected Area in 1989.
The lake and its surroundings, which are also home to the endemic Salda algae fish, are also the habitat of 110 bird species.
The water of the lake, whose white beaches containing hydromagnesite offer a unique visual feast, can be used in the treatment of some skin diseases, according to experts.
The lake contains alkaline water and is among the cleanest lakes.
